Summer Palace

The Summer Palace or Yihe yuan is a palace in Beijing, China. The Summer Palace is mainly dominated by Longevity Hill (60 meters high) and the Kunming Lake. It covers an expanse of 2.9 square kilometers, three quarters of which is water. The central Kunming Lake covering 2.2 square kilometers was entirely man made and the excavated soil was used to build Longevity Hill. In the Summer Palace, one finds a variety of palaces, gardens, and other classical-style architectural structures.

The Forbidden city

The Forbidden City (Imperial Palace) in the heart of Beijing is the largest and most complete imperial palace and ancient building complex in China, and the world at large. Its construction began in 1406 and was completed 14 years later, having a history so far of some 580 years. Beijing Zoo

Beijing Zoo, situated to the west of Beijing Exhibition Center, was known for a short time after the founding of the People's Republic as the Western Suburbs Park (Xijiao Gongyuan). The grounds combine cultivated flower gardens with stretches of natural scenery, including dense groves of trees, stretches of grassland, a small stream, lotus pools and small hills dotted with pavilions and halls.

Bell Tower

The Bell and Drum Tower is situated on the Di¡¯anmen Wai Avenue, Dongcheng District. It used to be the national time service center in three dynasties¨CYuan, Ming, and Qing, when it would issue the standard Beijing time every day. Well preserved, it is important for research into the layout of the ancient capital and bell and drum towers.As a landmark of Beijing in ancient times, the tower is composed of two parts¨Cthe bell tower in the north and the drum tower in the south.
